How to study Basic Engineering Drawing — Semester II, Pokhara University BECE

What it covers

Technical drawing fundamentals: drawing instruments and lettering, geometric construction, orthographic and isometric projection, sectional views, dimensioning, and an introduction to CAD.

Topics worth extra time

  1. Lettering, line types and dimensioning standards
  2. Geometric constructions
  3. Orthographic projection: first- and third-angle methods
  4. Sectional views
  5. Isometric drawing, and an introduction to CAD

How to study it

Drawing is a skill built by repetition. Complete every sheet yourself, and practise visualising objects: look at a 3-D object and sketch its front, top and side views before drawing them properly. Keep your instruments in good condition and pencils sharp.

In the exam

Neatness, correct line types and complete dimensioning all carry marks. Plan the layout of the sheet before you start so views are aligned and nothing runs off the page.
