How to study Microprocessor & Assembly Language Programming — Semester III, Pokhara University BECE
What it covers
Microprocessor architecture and programming: the 8085 and 8086, instruction sets and addressing modes, assembly language programming, memory and I/O interfacing, and interrupts.
Topics worth extra time
- The 8085 and 8086 architecture: registers, buses and pin diagrams
- Instruction sets and addressing modes
- Assembly language programs: arithmetic, loops, arrays and string operations
- Timing diagrams
- Interrupts and interfacing with peripherals and memory
How to study it
Write and run assembly programs on a simulator or trainer kit; reading programs alone does not build the skill. Keep an instruction reference sheet nearby and comment every line of your programs. Draw the internal architecture from memory until you can explain each block.
In the exam
Programs should be commented and use correct mnemonics. Architecture and timing-diagram questions need clean, labelled diagrams; practise drawing them within a fixed time.
