How to study Object Oriented Programming in C++ — Semester II, Pokhara University BECE
What it covers
Object-oriented programming with C++: classes and objects, constructors and destructors, operator overloading, inheritance, polymorphism and virtual functions, templates, exception handling, and file I/O.
Topics worth extra time
- Classes and objects, constructors and destructors
- Operator and function overloading
- Inheritance: types, access control and ambiguity
- Polymorphism: virtual functions and abstract classes
- Templates, exception handling and file I/O with streams
How to study it
Write small programs that each demonstrate one concept: a class with copy constructor, an overloaded operator, a base class with a virtual function. Then combine them into a slightly bigger program such as a bank account or student record system. Understand why each feature exists, not just its syntax.
In the exam
Theory questions often ask you to explain a concept with an example program, so prepare a short, correct example for each major feature. Write code neatly with comments, and show sample output where asked.
